Over time, the engine's air cleaner elements collect dirt and debris and will need to be replaced.
Periodically check the air cleaner element and inner element. If either has collected too much dirt and debris, they should be replaced.
The filters may need to be changed more frequently under severe, dusty, or dirty conditions.
NOTICE
Operating the engine with loose or damaged air cleaner components could cause premature wear and failure. Replace all bent or damaged components.
Unhook both retaining clips and, with a rocking motion, remove the end cap from the air cleaner assembly.
Inspect the end cap for any wear, cracks, or damage, and make sure the ejector area is clean.
With a twisting motion, remove the air cleaner outer element and inspect for dirt and debris. If needed, obtain a new outer element and discard the old element.
It is recommended to change the outer element every 250 operating hours.
NOTICE
Do not use compressed air to blow out paper filter elements, this can damage the elements and cause them to lose their filtering capabilities.
With a twisting motion, remove the air cleaner inner element and inspect ofr dirt and debris. If needed, obtain a new inner element and discard the old element.
It is recommended to change the inner element every 500 operating hours.
NOTICE
Do not use compressed air to blow out paper filter elements as this can damage the elements and cause them to lose their filtering capabilities.
Firmly insert the inner element into the air cleaner housing, followed by the outer element.
Install the end cap to the air cleaner assembly with the ejector facing down and the marking "UP" facing up.
Secure both retaining clips.
You have now completed the air filter element replacement procedure.
